FEBRUARY 3, 2010: We are gearing up for another great year of fishing. We recently attended our Tackle Show in North Carolina and have stocked up on all the latest fishing gear. Now lets just hope for some warm weather soon. Check back often as I will post a report as soon as the weather is warm enough to fish.
OCTOBER 23, 2009: Fishing has been slow because of all the wind and rain we have had over the past two weeks. Some reports of some Speckled Trout coming in from Hungars, Plantation Creek, and down behind Fisherman's Island. Good reports of some schools of puppy drum. Flounder action has been slow but a few keepers have been reported.
SEPTEMBER 16, 2009: Bad Weather has been the story for the past two weeks. However the weather has been nice the past couple of days with some good reports of Kingfish in the Bay. A few speckeled trout have been landed but still real spotty. Not much flounder action to report. No reports of croaker either.
AUGUST 6, 2009: Croaker actions is good on the seaside around Buoy 262. Weighed in Flounder to 8 lbs. over the weekend caught at the CBBT. Also good reports of flounder bite between Buoy 36 - 40. Cobia have slowed but still some being caught around Latimer's Shoal. Spades still being caught at the cell and CBBT. A 6 lb. speckeled trout was weighed in earlier in the week caught near Hungar's.
JULY 30, 2009: Croaker still be landed out of Oyster but has slowed over the last week. Some Good Cathches of Flounder have been reported at Buoy 36A and 40A. Cobia are still biting around Latimer Shoal and 36A. Red Drum are being caught near the CBBT. Good spade catches have been reported at the CBBT, Plantaion Light, and the CELL.
JULY 9, 2009: Good Cobia action around Latimer's Bluff. Croaker have been reported out of Oyster & Buoy 38A off of Cape Charles. Use Squid & Shrimp. Flounder have slowed however still some good reports of keepers near 36A. Live Minnows and cut bait are the preferred baits. Spadefish action is still hot around the cell, CBBT, & Plantation Light. Clam is the preferred bait of choice.
JUNE 24, 2009: The coraker have starting showing up in the creeks and should provide good action for angles in the upcoming weeks. Flounder action is slow but some reports of keepers around buoy 36A. Good reports of Cobia being caught at Latimers and near Buoy 36A. Spade fish are here and have been reported being caught at Plantation Light and at the Cell. A pending world record spade was caught at the Cell last week tipping the scales at over 14lbs. Not sure where it was weighed in at. Fishing action is picking up.
JUNE 15, 2009: Still some good reports of keeper Flounder being caught off 36A and down at the high rise. Some croaker have showed up off the Cape Charles Pier and off Cherrystone Reef. A few reports of Cobia being caught, however action should start to pick up as the weather warms. Small Gray Trout are being reported but some of them big enough to keep. No reports of spade fish yet but we anticipate action real soon.
JUNE 6, 2009: Good reports of Flounder are being reported on both side of the water. We weighed in a 7 3/4 lb. Flounder caught at the CBBT. King Fish are still being reported around the #2 day marker. Some reports of croaker are starting to arise. We recently weighed in one ounce shy of 3 lbs. Red Drum are still being reported around Fisherman's Island. Tight Lines
MAY 26, 2009: Memorial Day weekend saw an increase in keeper Flouner. The majority of the flounder were being caught between buoy 36 and 38. A Black Drum was weighed Sunday Morning that tipped the scales at 71 1/2 pounds caught at buoy 16. Good reports of king fish were being reported off Guy's Point and several good croaker catches out of Morley's Wharf.
MAY 13, 2009: Black Drum are here!! Reports of as many as 6 keepers up to about 60lbs. Sea Clams are the preferred choice of bait. We have Fresh Sea Clams on hand. Red Drum are off the surf with peeler being the preferred bait of choice. Nice reports of Flounder coming from out of Oyster and around the Bridge Tunnel. Croakers are being caught up around Morley's Wharf.
MAY 5, 2009: WE HAVE FRESH SEA CLAMS IN FOR THE WEEKEND. We also will be taking orders for sea clams for the Black Drum Tournament the weekend of the 15-17. Please come by or call to reserve your clams for the weekend.
MAY 4, 2009: Some good reports of flounder on the both sides of the water when the weather subsides. A couple reports of black drum being caught around buoy 13. Some nice fish reported off the surf around the barrier islands. Will have fresh sea clams in for the weekend. A few reports of croaker in the pound nets so croaker should be biting on handline soon.
APRIL 24, 2009: The weather is finally going to cooperate for a great weekend. The Flounder action is still pretty good out of Oyster. Heard of a few in the Bay but not as good as Oyster side right now. Black Drum season is approaching. Heard of a couple being caught behind Cobb Island but no other reports. APRIL 13, 2009: Some good reports of flounder biting on both sides of the water right now when the weather will cooperate. Will be open the weekend with the store all stocked up on the latest flounder rigs. We also have live bait.
MARCH 25, 2009: Not much to report fishing wise right now. It seems as if winter will never leave. Will update as soon as we hear of fish being caught. For now it is restocking the shelves for the upcoming season
FEBRUARY 28, 2009: New Flounder Regulations have been put in place. 19" and the limit is 5 fish with no closed season in July this year.
JULY 28, 2008: The croaker are very plentiful out of oyster. We are getting in a stock of Uncle George's Lures this week. They are very popular for the croaker. Coolers being filled up all over. Not much flounder action going on right now because they are in closed season until Wednesday. Spade fish are still being picked up at 4th Island of Bridge Tunnel and around Plantation Light, and the Cell. A few signs of Cobia but not much action to report. Red Drum being caught off the barrier island in the surf and behind Fisherman's Island. Spot are being taken on bloodworms or fishbite bloodworms in the channel near the harbor. We keep in stock both live and fishbite bloodworms.
JUNE 29, 2008: Fishing is finally here to talk about!!! Weighed in a 71 lb. Cobia caught by Jeffrey Hairr out of North Carolina. This fish was taken off of 36A chuncking cut bait. Rumors of croaker are surfacing over on the seaside. A good croaker bite is drifting the last of the flood tide and first part of ebb tide. Flouner are still tough to come by but some keepers are being landed. Spadefish are still being caught around the bridge and the cell. Spot are being caught suprisingly early in and around cape charles harbor.
JUNE 10, 2008: The croaker are in and are thick up around morley's wharf and buoy 54. The flounder bite is starting to pick up with a few being caught on both sides (Bayside and Seaside) of the water. There are a few reports of some good grey trout bite around the bridge. Red Drum are still being caught behind Fisherman's. A couple of cobia were caught over the weekend and looks promising for the weeks ahead. Spade fish have been spotted however no reports of any being caught as of yet.
JUNE 1, 2008: The drum bite is still on however should start to fade away within the next week. The reds are still being caught behind fisherman's island. Few keeper flounder are being caught but should pickup within the next week off of Cape Charles. Croaker fishing should improve shortly off of Cherrystone. Look out for cobia and spade fish as with warmer water they should start moving in.
